So I found out that in Indiana you can plate a vintage car with a plate that matches the year of manufacture. (Putting it on the rear, as the only plate) I decided to dig through my dad's old license plate collection and found this -
My dad is going to go to the BMW to get it registered to the car. Now I just have to be ready to be pulled over by every cop ever for having an expired plate!

Virginia has the same deal. If you can find plates that match the year of your car, and the numbers are not currently being used, you can get them issued to you.
The only thing, is it has to be an antique registration. No stickers required.

If '81 plates weren't so ugly, I'd have these on the T/A.

This reminds me of the pair of what were effectively NOS plates that I found in my grandparent's basement when I was a kid. New, never-used plates from '78, the year I was born. Not a scratch on them, not even any marks from mounting screws. I kept them for years until my mom threw them out behind my back.
We can't retroactively apply vintage plates here in B.C., but it was a cool collectible nonetheless.

He has those too, (probably from the same car, '72 Caddy that was in the family since it was new) and it think they're freaking sweet. It's so very 80's.

The German pronunciation, obviously.

Seriously, that's a great license plate - not ugly at all. Look at the old Houston Astros uniforms - derided for years, now loved.
If I was driving an '81 Trans Am in Indiana, I would rock the fuck out of these plates.
